M1876 Pattern Shoes

in 1876 both shoes and boots were to change, boots were made rough side out with brass screw soles and shoes were made of smooth side out with brass screw soles, though this soon became unpopular and complaints from the field due the screw working through the sole into the foot of the soldier.

The Quartermaster Dept abandoned the concept of screw soles and returned to making the soles as they did in the civil war also in early 1875 the name changed from Brogan-Bootee to Shoe.
