Original M1874 Indian War Meatcan
This Indian War meatcan or more commonly know as a mess tin today it is a second model which was the improved model over the first model which had a slit running through the middle of the handle and deemed to be inadequate by the issuing board.
The meatcan has the U.S. Stamp on the handle along with 11A overall it has a nice patina and no dents.
This model change very little until the first world war when it was about 1 inch higher and made from a different material.
The origins on the name had come from the earlier version which was a can about 3 inches wide and about 12 inches long with a hing at one end.
