M1861 Emergency Issue Blanket

In 1861 the Federal Government could not keep up with the supply of the Regulation grey blanket being issued to the Federal troops so the Government contracted the Woolrich mill to produce what would be referred to as the “1861 Emergency Issue” Blanket.

These blankets were cut straight from the roll and not hemmed as they did back in the day.

The mill called Woolrich was founded in 1830 and has ben the longest producing mill in the USA by the same family for eight generations making these blankets.

Weight 24oz/yard

60 inches wide x 70 inches long approximately

Dry Clean Only

U.S Regulation Blanket

Issued from 1861-1865 by the Federal Government though the sudden call to arms at the outbreak of the war soon exhausted these blankets, General Order of August 1862 advised all new volunteers to take with them a good stout blanket and it was said at the time “it will take some time to procure by manufacture or import a sufficient supply”.

These were more or likely also used into the first part of the Indian Wars

M1874 Enlisted & NCO Sabre Belt

The new modern 1874 was a great improvement on the M1872 but still retained the 1872 pattern brass buckle bearing the letters U.S.  The belt had two brass slides with loops on the bottom of the detachable sabre slings, this had come about as there had been questions with aboard on whether the sabre had any use in fighting the Indians so the sabre slings were designed to be detached from the sabre belt and attached to the pommel and cantle rings on the saddle.

This is a new items and we are building stocks of these, so there may be a delay
